Flight of the Alone to the Alone

Talks on the Kaivalya Upanishad

Osho, Flight of the Alone to the Alone

“The Kaivalya Upanishad is a longing for the ultimate freedom. Kaivalya means the moment in your consciousness when you are utterly alone, but you do not feel lonely…. Your very being becomes the whole. This is the longing of man that is hidden in his deepest innermost core.”

“KAIVALYA means absolute aloneness... This word is of tremendous beauty. Mahavira says: When you reach to your innermost core, you become absolutely free and that state is of pure aloneness - Kaivalya. and out of that is wisdom, and out of that is light, and out of that is compassion: everything is born out of that - so don't avoid aloneness. Yes, everybody is absolutely alone - and the sooner you recognize it, and the sooner you dare to go in, the better.”
The Upanishads are written in poems so that the reader will more easily remember what he has been reading, and the words can be more easily repeated. Osho comments on these verses to translate this ancient wisdom into the language of our days."
